Europe

Heading "across the pond" to break down the basic geography of Europe for this unit of study.  It is safe to say that Europe has had the most influence upon America culture than any other region on earth throughout modern history.  Students will explore Europe by region and will hopefully gain a deeper understanding of the cultural contrasts across this continent.  The Europe Unit is 5 week experience that contains 2 maps of the region (Political & Physical) , an Activity Packet, website travel project, current events focus activity and a Medieval History Unit.  Below you will find a "download" list of items used in class and a detailed description of all the activities within this unit.  Please click the "Schedule" tab to the left in order to view the daily happenings & the event schedule for our Europe Unit!

Eurotrip website project

There is NO better way to learn about the world than to actually travel and explore places in person.  Due to the fact that our Geography class is unable to jump on the next flight out of the country, we are going to simulate “real” travel through the use of the World Wide Web!  8th Grade World Geography students will be using this website exclusively to complete their Europe Unit Project Experience...students are asked to follow each of the steps in the webquest (simply click and go) in order to complete this activity.  The basic premise of this project is for kids to “invent” a travel company that specializes in European Travel and create a website that advertises a 4 night & 5 day, all inclusive, trip for 2 to a popular European City, Small Country or Island Destination. (note: 2 Travel Days, 3 TOUR days)

This project is completely online and is in "Webquest" format.  A Webquest is an assignment, which asks students to use the World Wide Web to learn and use their knowledge about a specific topic.   Webquests requires synthesis of new knowledge by accomplishing/completing a “task".  This task is often related to solving a hypothetical problem or addressing a real-world issue or process.  (In our case we are planning a 4 day tour a prominent city in Europe)  The Webquest linked below is a basic tutorial that will walk 8th Grade Geography students through the basics on how to create and complete the Europe Unit Project...Good Luck and Happy Travels!

Before I do anything I ask myself...”Would an idiot do that?”...and if the answer is YES, I do not do that thing.
